Many people know that an assessment using PMI’s Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3) is intended to help organizations to develop capabilities in project, program or portfolio management. But such agendas are not an end to themselves. Leaders in organizations undertake OPM3 assessments for reasons that are relevant to their own company’s specific business goals, whether those pertain to customers, internal business processes, learning, growth or financial objectives. Different stakeholders within an organization may have different motivations for using OPM3.
